Map and Directions to Pet Welfare
Pet Welfare is located on Eglin Air Force Base but is a private, non-profit organization not affiliated nor supported by the government or the military. The shelter is open to the public even if you do not have base access. Pet Welfare volunteers can escort you to our facility if you cannot access the base on your own, but please call ahead to schedule your visit.
Civilians that are not associated with the government and do not have access to Eglin AFB are still able to gain access and visit the shelter by following the instructions listed below.
Due to increased security at Eglin AFB, all individuals not authorized access to the base must have an escort to visit the shelter. Please contact us at (850) 678-5066 during shelter hours
of operation to make arrangements for one of our staff to meet you at the East (Valparaiso) or West gate (Shalimar).
NOTE: East Gate Visitor Center is closed on Saturday. Visitors needing an escort on Saturday
must go to the West Gate Visitor Center and someone from the office can meet you at that center.
You will need to have ready:
Someone from the office will meet you at the gate, sign you in to the base with a temporary base pass, and escort you to the shelter.
