It takes an entire family of dedicated and motivated volunteers to keep our shelter running smoothly. We have a morning and evening shift every day of the week, 365 days a years, for the dogs and for the cats. We have an office staff that keep the office open from 9:00am - 1:00pm, Monday through Saturday with additional volunteers, if available, during the Saturday office hours to help with adoptions. The office is closed on Sunday and all federal holidays.
The office is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00am - 1:00pm. As an office volunteer, you can be counted on to greet visitors to Pet Welfare and assist them in any way possible. You could be asked to show adoptable cats and/or dogs to visitors, answer questions about what we do, assist visitors with an adoption application, or help them complete a volunteer application. Office volunteers are trained to be able to help any visitors or phone call customers with a wide range of information about Pet Welfare, local veterinarian services, and other local pet shelters. Office volunteers perform administrative duties around the office such as filing, updating pet records, computer data entries, etc. Office volunteers also keep the office areas clean and tidy by sweeping, mopping, dusting, etc. every day.
We have a morning shift and an evening shift every day of the year, including holidays. For both shifts, dog volunteers will feed the dogs, give them fresh water, take the dogs on a walk, provide medication as needed, clean the kennels and yards, and allow the dogs time to play in the yards. The volunteers bathe and groom the dogs, safely socialize them with other dogs, provide obedience training as shown by instructors, teach them to play fetch, etc.
We have a morning shift and an evening shift every day of the year, including holidays. For both shifts, the cat volunteers will clean the cat rooms (scoop litter boxes, sweep and mop cages, etc.), attend the food and water stations, fluff bedding, administer medication as needed, and groom the cats. Volunteers can spend time socializing with the cats and preparing them to go to the forever homes.
Do you have room in your heart and home to care for one or more orphans until a loving family adopts the animal? This is a BIG commitment.
Foster animals require 24/7 attention the same as any pet. Pet Welfare pays for all medical care, supplies, and food. You supply the love,
care, nurturing and TIME. Yes, it is a big commitment, but the rewards are priceless and the memories are forever!
If you are interested in becoming a foster care provider for any of our cats or dogs, please contact us via
email or our
contact page for
further details. Let us know which pet you are considering and the right person will contact you with specific information on that pet.
